Brian Banks, the former California high school football player recently exonerated of rape charges, is now getting a second chance at life.

The Arizona Diamondbacks hope they might be a part of his fresh start.

Team President and CEO Derrick Hall wants to talk with Banks, who was released from prison last week after his accuser recanted her story, about a potential job with the organization.

"I know he still has dreams and goals of playing in the NFL but if that doesn't work out we would like to help him start a career in sports and see if there is a good fit for him within our organization," Hall told 92.3 KTAR.

Several NFL teams have offered Banks, who spent more than 62 months in prison, a workout. But Hall wanted to make sure Banks received his message early.

"I about fell out of my seat when I read (the Diamondbacks' offer)," Banks told ESPN writer Rick Reilly. Hall said he was moved by an interview featuring Banks last week. Formerly with the Dodgers' front office, Hall remembers when Banks was sentenced in the high-profile case 10 years ago.

What kind of job does Hall have in mind?

"It's too soon to tell, but just watching him I thought he's very bright and articulate," Hall said. "I just think he deserves a second chance."

The woman that did this should get the same amount of time in jail as he did.

This is beyond stupid. He has spent how long in jail? And they are going to bring him in to do what exactly? And earn what exactly? Football player in a baseball front office? Way to feed of emotion D. Hall. If this really happens, I will blow off the home team. How many qualified people you have applying? And you want this guy who has watch zero sports in 10 years? Get over yourself.

Keep calm Shawn....Do your homework and recognize that the DBacks organizations was rated as the best in all of sports (GLobally) to work for. Derrick Hall isn't screwing around, he's always improving this team and is smart as heck. Obviously he's not just being looked at as a charity case. He demands his employees live the DBacks and is a die hard fan of them. He'll use this guys motivation and new life to spark the drive to help improve this organization anyway possible. Did you think he was going to make him assitant GM or something? Settle down.
