The fact that the Arizona Diamondbacks have interest in Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis is not new or ridiculous, as the team has struggled at the position this season and could use an upgrade.

However, what the D-backs would be willing to give up to acquire the veteran is unknown, though we know one player they won't move in the deal.

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox asked for one of Arizona's outfielders.

Diamondbacks: They have had interest in Youkilis for some time, but they declined when the Red Sox asked for outfielder Gerardo Parra. The talks do not appear to be dead, according to a major league source.

Parra, who is hitting .267 with six home runs and 22 RBI this season, won a Gold Glove last year and has proven to be a valuable member of the team, especially with the injuries and struggles the team's outfield has faced this season.

So it's understandable that the D-backs have little interest in giving him up, even if it lands them what could be an upgrade at third base.

But as the article states, that does not mean a Youk-to- Arizona deal won't happen, just that if it does it will not involve Parra.

    No Way No HOW
If the Dbacks did this they would be soo soo soo stupid! I wouldnt mind seeing Youk here for the right set of minor leaguers or something... maybe package Hudson and Young for Youkalis and some minor leaguers in return. I want to make room for some of our young pitchers and I feel Hudson has lost it and I think Parra should play everyday. My love for CY is dying the more I see him struggle.

    Too much
Youkilis is worth a double A player at best. He's old, injured and not hitting. Why would we give up Hudson, Young and a prospect for some fossil? He's not that good.

I'd be totally pizzed at the Dbacks for dealing Parra. I'd rather Young do than Parra

    are you kidding?
First off, trading Parra straight up for Youk is ridiculous. Youk is having a terrible season and is in the twilight of an excellent career. Youk is batting .225 with 4 HRs. Parra is batting .267 with 6 HR and he won a Gold Glove last season. 2nd of all, I have to disagree with milkstar's comment. Package a young #2 starting pitcher and one of the best defensive CF in baseball for a guy who will retire at the end of the season? WOW. That is the kind of move only Robert Sarver would make.
