Diamondbacks play-by-play man Daron Sutton was not in the booth Friday night for the team's series opener against the Cubs, and there are reports on AZCentral.com saying that he's been suspended by the team.

"We've made an adjustment to the broadcast talent lineup and Daron is going to be taking some time off," said Josh Rawitch, SR Vice President of Communications for the team.

Sutton has been the team's television voice since the 2007 season, and he will be replaced in the booth by longtime radio voice Greg Schulte, while Jeff Munn will fill in on the radio side.

On Saturday, Rawitch said Sutton will not accompany the team on its upcoming road trip and there's no timetable for his return.

    wait for the facts
Not sure who knows exactly what is happening. But I love the DBacks front office and I am sure they will be fair. How can you not love/trust Derek Hall? (especially when you have to deal with Sarver in this town) In summary, Sutton and Gracie make an excellent team. Hope to see you back soon Sut!

    Sutton's status
Not fair to speculate. It could very well be personal issues and we don't have a right to know.

Report: Writer Suspended from Sports Website
A regular reporter from a local sports website quoted from yet another news source and did perhaps use the word "suspended" inaccurately and without cause. Senior VP of the media group announced that the reporter would be taking a few days off himself and apologized for the lack of editor policeing on the junior writers that "post" their ill chosen words. There was no timetable for the writers return and it was in fact, rumored that his things, a quick finger and no "3 second rule" were outlawed and forbidden in all the land after that. Cliff

Can we flag this article as Abuse?!?
Either the "reporter" walked away from his computer and someone came along and submitted this... Or he needed to submit something before he could leave for the weekend. There is nothing in this article that says he is suspended. The only source quoted in this article says that he is taking some personal time. That is hardly a suspension. But the title " Sutton to take a few days off for personal issues " wouldn't get much interest. To use an overused term "FAIL"

    is this a joke?
OK so one prior commenter provides a link to bleacherreport.com that is supposed to tell us the story, but all that story does is not only repeat this pathetic writer's conjecture, but also erroneously cited az central as having said that Sutton was suspended. AZ Central makes no such statement! COME ON SHEEPLE!! Invoke your sense of reasoning. No true source has come out and said Sutton has been suspended and we should remain skeptical until such time. Let the Haters Hate.

    Personal Reasons
It honestly sounds family related to me. If it's something about his marriage, he should understandably take time off. Remember, the broadcast team is on the road as much as the players. It can take a tough toll on any relationship. Whatever it really is, I hope to see Sutton back in the booth soon.

    Bring Sutton Back
It took me a year or two to embrace this guy, but now Sutton and Grace have tremendous chemistry together. I love the sly jokes that they both make and their broadcast is the one I prefer. Please, no old man Joe. I hit the mute button and go to the radio when he is on(unless I've been having trouble sleeping).

You are a broadcaster, thats it
Darren Sutton is a likable personality...unless you are management and he mentions internal beefs with management on the air (dress code), and goes on the radio and contradicts what the owner came out and said about Drew. Sutton has/had the best job in the world, its a privilege, just enjoy it and quit sticking your whiny nose where it doesn't belong. Stick to your job and call games, being on air isn't your soapbox.
