The Arizona Diamondbacks made a deadline day deal, but not exactly the type many were expecting.

Gambadoro later reported the Diamondbacks were receiving outfielder Scott Podsednick and pitcher Matt Albers.

However, the arrival of another outfielder does not contribute to the rumors going around that outfielder Justin Upton could still be leaving the D-backs.

Podsednick, 36, hit .387 with one home run and seven RBI in 19 games for Boston this year. The speedy outfielder has also posted 307 stolen bases in his 11-year career, 130 of which came in his time in the National League. He also has a career .341 OBP.

The 29-year-old Albers was 2-0 with a 2.29 ERA in 39.1 innings out of the Boston bullpen.

Breslow was acquired by the Diamondbacks before the season in the deal that also brought them Trevor Cahill, and was 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 43.1 innings for the team.

    Not sure...
why this trade was made. Maybe someone can enlighten me. I thought the Dbacks weren't going to make trades just to be trading.

about this trade...Podsednick was being offered up for practically nothing, Albers is not as good as Breslow with sub par K/BB ratio (plus Dbacks lose a lefty from the pen). There has to be something else to this, this deal is just not that great for the Dbacks.

    why?
Why would u trade a decent reliver for a under average reliver and a outfielder who is only going to see minor league time. This is kevin towers big move? Boooooooooo way to let us down! I guess that is not surprising

    I think...
this falls into the category of making a trade to make a trade. No obvious upside with plenty of immediate downside. Bullpen has been good lately, why mess with it?

What a crock! Might just as well blown the team up if you were not going to try and get better. Please don't give us the line about financial responsibility!! Just another way of saying the team is cheap. Do you expect us to fill the seats to see the Dodgers & Giants whip your butt? Pretty sad when you could not even give Drew away because of his bad attitude, as reported on MLB Network.

    Will be fine...don't worry.
Albers will eat up innings and be better in the National league and Posednick can be an effective "Pinch Hitter" for an above average team. I believe this gives the D'backs what they need. Another good arm in the minors I think is why this was done for the most part. Good move D'backs! Rate this near the end of the season. Dare you!

    Trading Breslow
ought to take care of the problems that the Dbacks are facing.

    Good Deal
Posednik brings speed and next season an outfield of Posednik, Kubel, Parra seems like a good bet...

    Why?
Why would KT do this? Maybe the most vaulable think to have right now would be a good lefty in the pin. I thought for sure that this meant something else was coming, but seems that the Dbacks struck out today!!
