Sure, you could read the box score and know who won, but we all know that won't tell you everything that happened in a baseball game. So, we will give you a closer look, providing you with the analysis, quotes and notes from the D-backs' August 3 win over the Phillies. Final score: Diamondbacks 4, Phillies 2.

The good:

Ian Kennedy had another solid outing throwing his fourth quality start in a row. Kennedy pitched 6 innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits. This also marks Kennedy's fourth win in a row and sixth out of his last eight.

Just Upton hit his career home run number 100 to left field off of Kyle Kendrick gave the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Upton also beat out his brother BJ Upton, who hit his 100th career home run less than an hour later for the Tampa Bay Rays.

The bad:

Stephen Drew continues to struggle since returning to the line-up. Drew went 0-for-4 Friday with one strikeout and dropped his season average to .185.

Noted:

Justin Upton made a strong throw in the bottom of the sixth to throw out John Mayberry Jr at home plate on a single by Kevi Frandsen. The play kept the Diamondbacks ahead 3-2. Though the throw was on target, instant replay looked to show Mayberry reach the plate before being tagged out by Miguel Montero.

He said it:

"It was awesome, it has been awhile since I hit a home run so it was big to help the team out early," Upton told Fox Sports after the game regarding home run number 100. "It's something I work on every day. I'm in the cage grinding so to see it happen early is great."

Coming up:

The Diamondbacks look for win number five in a row as they take on the Phillies in game two of a three game series Saturday at 4:05 p.m.
