The Arizona Diamondbacks' TV broadcast booth makeover is complete.

The team announced Thursday it has hired ESPN studio host Steve Berthiaume to do play-by-play, while Bob Brenly will handle color commentary.

"We are ecstatic to be bringing in such a dynamic broadcast duo like Bob and Steve," said D-backs President Derrick Hall in a press release announcing the move. "Not only are we able to reach back to our roots with someone who has played such a significant role in our franchise's history, but we truly feel that Bob is the best analyst in the game today. With Steve, we believe that his ability to connect with our fans and his tremendous work on the national stage over the last several years makes him the perfect addition to the booth."

Berthiaume previously anchored ESPN's Baseball Tonight, but also served as a play-by-play announcer for Major League games in the network's league-wide package along with College World Series Super Regional coverage.

He will be replacing Daron Sutton, who was suspended by the team in June for unspecified reasons. Brenly will be filling the void left by Mark Grace, who was not brought back by the team following a second DUI arrest that occurred in August.

Brenly originally held the role with the team from 1998-2000, before leaving the booth to take over as manager in 2001. The former big league catcher guided the Diamondbacks to a World Series championship in 2001 as well as an NL West title in 2002, but was relieved of his duties midway through a tumultuous 2004 campaign.

From there, Brenly was hired to do analyst work for the Chicago Cubs on WGN, a job held from 2004 through this past season.

Brenly also spent time working national games for TBS.

    New broadcast team
Kudos to the Dbacks for bringing in a TV broadcast team with a reputation for professionalism. Finally, we'll be able to enjoy the games on FSN-AZ. Brenly is one of the best color analysts in the game. He is a pro's pro.

    Professionalism
It's nice to have some professionals back in the booth, instead of the former knuckleheads. It's a weird move for Berhiaume because he's very east coast-oriented and his wife, Cindy Brunson, works at ESPN. Oh, what is with the first comment post and the capitalization of every word? Not trying to be grammar police, but that's really annoying to read.

    This is a set up
Once the Dbacks start to tire of the stiffs running the show in the dugout, Brenly will be offered the job again. But its good to see the Kendrick addressing our most pressing need.

    Great news
Having the MLB station, I am not familar with Steve Berthiaume, before I HAD mlb, i WATCHED espn, NOW don't have to!!!!! However, I am glad that he ran cross country in school for I am interested in his call of the tall guys race, the one that Gracie has only won once..He can probably give Gracie some training tips.

    Good Team
I can't complain about the new guys; they should do a good job. I will, however, miss Sutt and Gracie. Their wit and stupidity made it fun to watch the games, similar to that of Harry and Stoney. I hope Gracie gets it figured out and I hope Sutt lands a position with the Dodgers at some point. I still have to believe that had something to do with it.
