It's only been 112 days since Arizona Diamondbacks' right hander Daniel Hudson had Tommy John surgery in his throwing elbow, but he's already throwing a baseball.

Earlier this month, D-backs' manager Kirk Gibson told the media that he didn't expect Hudson back on the mound until August of 2013 at the earliest -- a notion that Hudson scoffed at.

Hudson last pitched in a ball game June 26, when he yielded five earned runs in just 1.2 innings of work in an 8-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

In nine starts in 2012, Hudson went 3-2 with an ERA of 7.35. This followed a stellar 2011 campaign in which he won 16 games for the National League West champions.

    Biggest Issue
No doubt the biggest issue with Hudson is his throwing mechanics causing great stress on his arm. Unfortunately that will not change so hopefully when fully recovered he can go strong a few years before things start unraveling again with his arm. Possibly longer rest in between starts could help.

    Go after Steven Drew
Noticed the A's did not pick up Drew's 10M option which makes sense. Drew for sure will be back to the old Drew before the injury next year & the D-Backs did to make a run for him ASAP; Bloomquist due to frequent injuries & McDonald both are getting old can be dealt somewhere else
