Another day, another rumor involving Arizona Diamomdbacks outfielder Justin Upton.

Get use to it D-backs fans, it's going to be a long winter in Arizona.

Saturday, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal was at it again, speculating that the two-time All Star could wind up in Tampa Bay -- a place his brother B.J. has called home since 2004.

While B.J. Upton looks headed for free agency, Rosenthal thinks the Rays could offer a substantial package for his younger brother, Justin.

The Rays could satisfy the Diamondbacks' desire to add a top-of-the-rotation starter by offering right-hander James Shields or right-hander Jeremy Hellickson. They also could fill the D-backs' need for a shortstop by offering a top prospect, Hak-Ju Lee.

Although general manager Kevin Towers has said throughout the week that the team is only listening to potential offers, as other organizations look to sweeten the pot, the question remains how long will it take the Diamondbacks' front office to make a decision on the future of their star right fielder?

Upton is coming off an underwhelming season, at least by his standards. The 25-year-old batted .280, with 17 home runs, 67 RBI and a slugging percentage of .430 -- 80th-best among qualified hitters.

    The D-Backs shouldn't settle for anything less than David Price. If Towers does, I will realize that the D-Backs success in 2011 was really because of the decisions by Jerry Dipoto.

    Here's an idea... Upton was drafted as a Short Stop. It reason we move him to RF was because we had Drew. Now we have no Short Stop and an overloaded OF. Put him at SS, play Parra in RF and move one of our young pitchers for a good 3B and we are set. Suddenly we would have one of the best Short Stops in the game offensively. He was a first overall pick at Short so I can't imagine his defense would be that bad.

    Towers is better, hands down. But, as far as agreeing goes...Last I checked Shields/Hellickson were good middle of rotation guys. Price is top of the rotation and he is due, soon, a fat contract. Upton is the best thing TB can get for Price right now, especially if Towers sweetens the deal-perhaps a solid farm hand or two. Keep Bauer for now, sign Hamilton for 4 years? Despite being a pain-in-the-arse, Bauer has the physical tools to very good one day. He just has some growing up to do and hes relatively cheap. Hamilton can get rest he needs on this squad and play LF/RF.

    then I would trade Kubel for SS. Doesnt have to be a 300 hitter, just solid .280/platoon with Bloomquist and hit in the 2 hole. Scrappy hitter type. Batting order...Leadoff-Eaton, 2-SS (Bloomquist), 3-Hamilton, 4-Hill, 5-Goldy, 6-Montero,7-Parra, 8-Johnson/Wheeler. Pitching Rot...1-Price,2-Kennedy,3-Miley,4-Cahill,5-Skaggs (next man up 6-Hudson/Corbin). I would buy tickets to see this group on the field.
