According to ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney, the Miami Marlins had discussed the possibility of moving José Reyes to the Arizona Diamondbacks before sending the young shortstop to the Toronto Blue Jays in a blockbuster trade this past Tuesday.

With so many young prospects in their farm system and a desperate need for a shortstop, the pieces were certainly in place for the D-backs to make a move for the Reyes.

Arizona would most likely have had to include a top prospect or two in any deal with the Marlins. One of the options could have been Trevor Bauer, which may not have been a problem since numerous reports are stating the D-backs are looking to move the young hurler.

For whatever reason the trade didn't happen, leaving the D-backs with newly acquired shortstop Cliff Pennington to go along with John McDonald and Willie Bloomquist at the position.

    whatever reason
i would wager to get that the reason it didnt happen is because he is the only player we wanted. If they could package him along with multiple other players they wanted to get rid of, they had to jump at it

Wait a second, did you write this Jose?
Seriously, you writers need to actually play sports or at the very least, watch sports, before you start writing about them. I redirect my 'Come on man' to you, Mr Youngs.
