Oh, the rumors just keep on coming.

With the Winter Meetings going on in Nashville, there seems to be a new rumor concerning Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Justin Upton, whom Arizona has shopped in some capacity in each of the last three offseasons.

But ESPN's Pedro Gomez may have dropped the juiciest of rumors on Twitter:

As word of that idea spread, though, many sources chimed in to refute it.

Lee, 34, is coming off of a frustrating season with Philadelphia in which he went 6-9 with a 3.16 ERA in 30 starts. The 2008 American League Cy Young Award winner didn't earn his first victory until July 31.

Lee is owed $87.5 million over the next three seasons, so presumably, a ton of money would need to come back to Diamondbacks in any deal with Philadelphia.

Upton, 25, had a down season in 2012 as well, hitting .280 with 17 home runs and 67 RBI. The former first overall draft pick has three years and approximately $38.5 million left on his contract.

this rumor is so unbelievably stupid that i have to believe its real and could actually be done. If they trade upton for lee - I am done until Towers is gone. I consider myself a Dbacks fan since the beginning, but I refuse to waste my time

    AZ sports needs a change
Does anyone else miss Jerry Colangelo. When Jerry was here we didn't have to hope for playoffs, we expected it. This new ownership group is a joke. Lets get rid of Upton and pick up another pitcher or a young shortstop. If we get rid of Upton, there will be no excitement for this team anymore. Since when is 280 with 17 homeruns for 6 million a year a bad deal.

Towers is an idiot. maybe we can just have 24 pitchers and a catcher, who by the way is nowhere near as good as Upton. If Towers ever got off his "Everyone's Tradeable" Power trip and left Upton alone and just stood by him, he probably would bat 300/30/100 every year. We know everyone is tradable Towers, but just remember that everyone in the front office is replaceable too. Your not making any friends.

I would be hard pressed to continue to follow this team if they did something that stupid.

Would be dumb to trade Upton
I was for trading Upton a while ago until I noticed that he was 4th in the league with 107 runs scored. To compare that Kubel only scored 75 runs. You need runs to win games and losing Upton would cost this team wins.

If Colangelo was here, he'd spend money for free agents and have the team win 1 or 2 years.....then the franchise will be neck deep in debt and lose for 3 or 4 years. Honest truth unfortunately. Been there, done that. No thank you. I agree that some consistency is important but I don't want to spend and believe that we have a winning team. The Dodgers, the Red Sox and Yankees can possibly do that but not the D-Backs.

    Leave Upton alone
Last year was a down year and he still had good numbers. He will rise up and play better this year and there is almost noone I want over him that we could get in a trade. Just stop being shortsighted and naive.

    STOP UPTON TRADE RUMORS!
What ever happened to the idea of loyalty? I have never been on board with the idea of trading Justin, and this time is no different. The way the organization is treating Upton is disgusting. Keep him, be loyal to him, and watch how he produces. If they trade Upton, they'll trade away a lot of the fan base with him.

    Pedro
Pedro Gomez is an idiot. I remember during the 2001 World Series when he was a writer for the Republic. He took advantage of all the New York and national media in town, and he wrote his whole article that week on a "reported" clubhouse rift between Johnson and Schilling. Why? To stir up national attention and help him land a better job. He then became Barry Bonds personal follower for ESPN for the next 3-4 years. Pedro is a joke. I am still pissed about him trying to stir up a controversy in the D-Backs clubhouse in the middle of the freaking World Series.
