Diamondbacks add Starling Peralta in Rule 5 Draft

The Arizona Diamondbacks selected pitcher Starling Peralta in the Rule 5 Draft Thursday.
Peralta, 22, is a right-handed pitcher who was in the Chicago Cubs organization in 2012. He went 5-8 with a 3.44 ERA in 99.1 innings pitched in 17 starts for Single-A Peoria.
A 6-foot-4, 180-pound player, Peralta has compiled a 16-25 record with a 4.46 ERA over five Minor League seasons. He was originally signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in May 2008.
