For three seasons, Justin Upton has been at the center of Arizona Diamondbacks trade rumors. Those rumors are now over.

According to various reports, the D-backs have traded Upton to the Atlanta Braves along with third baseman Chris Johnson for outfielder/third baseman Martin Prado, right-handed starter Randall Delgado, shortstop Nick Ahmed, right-hander Zeke Spruill and infielder Brandon Drury.

Upton, a two-time All-Star, will now play alongside his older brother, B.J., who signed a five-year, $75 million deal in the offseason.

At the center of the return for the Diamondbacks is Prado, who was an All-Star in 2010. Last season, Prado hit .301 with 10 homers and 70 RBI in 156 games for Atlanta. Prado, 29, has one year left on his contract. He requested $7.05 million in arbitration from Atlanta and was offered $6.65 from the club.

Delgado started 17 games for the Braves last season, posting a 4-9 record and a 4.37 ERA. He is 22 years old.

Ahmed, 22, was a second round pick of the Braves in 2011. He spent the 2012 season with Lynchburg in Class-A ball. He batted .269 with six home runs and 49 RBI while posting a .963 fielding percentage.

Spruill, is rated as the Braves' ninth-best prospect according to Baseball America. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound righty went 9-11 with a 3.67 ERA in 2012 for Double-A Mississippi. He has a 38-33 record in five minor league seasons after being a second round pick of the Braves out of Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia in 2008.

Drury, 20, was a 13th round selection of the Braves in 2010. He spent 2012 with Rome in the Class-A South Atlantic League, hitting .229 with six homers and 51 RBI while playing primarily the corner infield positions.

This guy continues to ruin our team, not an upgrade over Josh Byrnes. Can we get at least one Arizona team that knows what they are doing.

that is true but this is a solid trade if you look at what we are getting. I'm a sports nutt so unfortunately this s hit consumes me. We just improved the fielding in RF with Parra replacing J-Up, we improved both offensively & defensively @ 3rd Base, we get a starting pitcher, & a young SS who will a welcome addition. No way you can pay J-Up that kind of money for the inconsistencies he has. Our team improved on this trade even though I rather of made the TX trade but they didn't want to involve Andrus.

I admit I have fallen off baseball over the past few years, but I dont see Prado as being on the same level as upton. if they would have included one of their top prospects it would be much easier to swallow. this trade screams of towers saying "yea i gotta finish packing for my vacation - you throw in a bag of peanuts and we got a deal"

    Where to start
First off- are the local teams trying to out do one another? Second- this is a good deal in teh sense that the D Backs receoved excellent value in return. I still beleive that Upton is an MVP caliber player who will be dominant for years. His time just ran its course here. With Heyward and that lineup, I can see J UP going for 30/100 this season. That said, good deal. Good value in return.

    Yeah
well it improves our trade, maybe not on a Superstar Level but we improved @ 3rd Base, SS depth, & another young prospect. We freed up his salary too to go after a big name next off season!

    If they trade Kubel
That will almost complete the emasculation of the D-back power. They will be relying on squib hits. stolen bases and sacrifices to win ballgames... We will be relying on Hill and Ross for the power that changes games!!!!!! I am uneasy about ti but can't wait.. Let's go D-backs.....LETS GO COYOTES!

Dbacks finaly have a third baseman
28 years old, and 7 years in the league, the dude can flat out hit. Only twice in his career has he been below .300, lifetime he is .295. No doubt Upton leaving is a little bit of a sting, but lets face it, he didn't want to be here anymore. He may flourish and he may not.... that's the problem, the MAY. Prado also has a .980 lifetime fielding %, so dude has a pretty good glove to. I would of loved to see Upton a Dback for life, but I just thing this thing ran its course.

    coalition of sucking
every Arizona pro franchise (except for the Coyotes [as of now]) have decided to suck, as can only be proven by their records, trades, signings, and coaching firing/hiring. Why I continually love them I will never understand.
