Paul Goldschmidt is the Arizona Diamondbacks’ best player, of that there is zero doubt.
He’s also one of their hardest workers, which is why he was named the Arizona Diamondbacks 2015 Heart and Hustle Award Winner by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.
According to a press release, the award is given to active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game.
The 27-year-old first baseman is hitting an NL-best .341 with 21 home runs and 72 RBI this season.
“In every way, on and off the field, he demonstrates the attributes defined by this award,” said D-backs chief baseball officer Tony La Russa.
From here, fans, MLB alumni and active players will vote to select a league-wide winner from the 30 different team winners. The final winner will be announced on Nov. 10 at the 16th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City.
