NEW YORK — Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla was suspended for one game by the NHL on Sunday for boarding Nashville Predators forward Matt Halischuk on Friday night.

Klesla received a minor penalty for boarding in the first period of Coyotes' 1-0 road victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinal series. Video replays showed he appeared to grab Halischuk's jersey before slamming him into the boards.

Phoenix leads the series 3-1. Game 5 is Monday night in Glendale, Ariz.

On Thursday, Coyotes forward Raffi Torres appealed the length of his 25- game suspension for a hit to the head on Chicago forward Marian Hossa in the first round.

    Shanahan Got to Go
Get rid of Brrmhan Shanahan for his inconsistancies policies with regard to player suspension. How come no suspension for Jimmy Hayes of the Blackhawks for the boarding of Michal Rozsival in game 6. At least Hayes received a major and misconduct for his actions. How about the boarding call on Nashvilles captain in game two. Where is his suspension? No single individual should have all this power to influence the outcome of any game. Kind of reminds me of David Stern's action against the Suns playoffs in 2007.

    Couldn't agree more.
I've been waiting to hear the 25 game suspension of Alexander Ovechkin announced over his open-ice hit on the Rangers Girardi. Repeat offender, skates left the ice when he targeted the players head. Sound like any other player we know? Shanahan has been silent because the Capitals are dead without Ovechkin. "Jordan Rules" in hockey? The NHL should be better than that.

    GARBAGE
What a garbage suspension especially considering the dude turned his body just before contact. If he doesn't turn his head there is no way he gets pushed downwards, instead he would have hit the boards with his upperbody taking the brunt! Way to F it up AGAIN Shanahan!
