Prospective Phoenix Coyotes owner Greg Jamison does not have enough money to buy the team and then operate the team, a report said.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, operating capital is currently the newest obstacle blocking the sale of the team to Jamison.

Basically, the report said Jamison may have the money to purchase the team, but keeping the lights on after could be an issue.

However, the latest cloud could have a silver lining.

The Jamison camp and other backers of a Coyotes sale still say a deal could get done soon if more capital is raised or an accommodating deal is worked out with the NHL.

The city of Glendale recently agreed to a 30-day extension of the agreement with the NHL to keep everything running at Jobing.com Arena, but we have to wonder when everyone involved, including the fans, says enough is enough.

    NHL .. . Lower the price ...
For all of us fans of the Western Conf. Champs Coyotes it's time for this to be over and the NHL has taken in more than enough money from the city and all of the fans and LOWER the sale price so this can go through and re-sign Shane Doan to a new contract.. that would be a good-faith effort by the league and prospective owner Jamison to get this done now ... GO COYOTES .. HOWL .. !!!!

    What A Mess
Will this saga ever end? Despite being crushed in the Conference Finals this year by the Kings, this was the year the Yotes needed so desperately. Yet I can't help but feel that in the end, it might be all for nothing. That would really be a shame.

How Much has the NHL Spent?
I don't pretend to understand the $$'s in this league-ownership situation but I would be curious to know how much the league has sunk into the Coyotes since they took it over. If it's less than the $170 million they're asking, maybe they should lower the price to that level (plus a nominal profit) just to get this over with and keep the team in Arizona (which is what the league says they really want). I'm sure the NHL has made some money off this team over the last couple of years. But then I probably don't understand the underlying finances... I'm just a fan.

    I'm gettin' nervous
I just bought 22 tickets (extra one to watch the Wild), I moved here from cornfield country where the only excitement is TALKING about Bobby Knight all day and going to 4-H fairs at night... Come on Mr. Jamison lets see the money...please...... What next, the Diamondbacks leave too? Guess I better brush up on my cow tipping techniques again just in case i'm forced to move back!

    This is hilarious!
This Jamison guy has been busy dictating to the City of Glendale how much they have to pay him for managing the arena and it turns out he doesn’t even have the money to buy and operate the team. This team loses tens of millions of dollars a year, why anybody would invest to keep it here is beyond me. Jamison doesn’t care, it’s not like it’s HIS money he is throwing away. The fate of this team was sealed years ago when the decision was made to move them to Glendale.

    This is hilarious! (Part 2)
It would be irresponsible for the NHL to sell the team to a buyer who can just barely afford to run it. IF Jamison does cobble enough money to buy it I wouldn’t be surprised if it was back in bankruptcy within and couple of years. Does any fan truly want a team that is constantly cash-strapped and losing money? The writing is on the wall. It’s just not meant to be. It’s time for the NHL and the City of Glendale to cut their loses and move on. Either relocates it to a city that will support and appreciate it or fold it.
