Arizona State announced the Sun Devil football team will return to Camp Tontozona from August 14 to August 18, bringing back their storied and beloved training camp after a five-year hiatus.

The Sun Devils launched the "Return to Camp T" campaign on April 19, asking for monetary donations from the Sun Devil community. Arizona State athletic director Steve Patterson couldn't be more pleased with the end result.

"A lot of our fans, alumni and former players stepped up so we were able to raise $150,000 to pull that off," Patterson told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Tuesday. "I am looking forward to going and seeing a great number of our Sun Devil fans up there."

Patterson said the money raised will go towards renovations to the facility and modernizing it to be able to fully equip and support the audio technology.

As far as the long-term future of Camp Tontozona, Patterson is hopeful the team will be able to make the Sun Devils return a permanent one.

"We'll have to look at a long-term capital plan to be able to upgrade the facilities," Patterson said. "So we'll have to sit down as we go through the budget process every year and see what we need and I think we'll learn a lot going back up this year after not having been there for a while and really operating in there for 4-5 days and really seeing what it's like."

For now, the Sun Devils are brimming with hope for what Camp Tontozona could mean for the chemistry of their football squad.

"I think it's a great piece of history, a great piece of tradition and [head coach Todd Graham] thinks it'll be a great team building experience," Patterson said.
