Following the 2014 season, Arizona State running back D.J. Foster announced he’d be returning to school for his senior year.
The Scottsdale Saguaro High product flirted with the idea of entering the draft, but ultimately decided to finish his career in Tempe before moving on to the NFL.
“I am so excited to be able to finish what I started and graduate and run out on the field on senior day,” Foster said at a Dec. 30 press conference in Tempe.
Foster is one of the top returning offensive players in the nation. As a junior, he ran for 1,081 yards and nine touchdowns on 191 carries. He led all FBS running backs with 688 receiving yards on 62 catches.
Bovada, one of the nation’s leading online sports books, has Foster listed among the players with a good chance to win the Heisman Trophy next December.
Foster is listed as a 25-to-1 shot and shares the same odds as Wisconsin RB Corey Clement and Oregon RB Royce Freeman.
Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott has the best odds at 6-to-1, followed by Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott (7-to-1), LSU running back Leonard Fournette (7-to-1) and TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin (15-to-2).
USC quarterback Cody Kessler, UCLA running back Paul Perkins, Arizona running back Nick Wilson, Cal quarterback Jared Goff and Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright were the other Pac-12 players listed as early possibilities.
