Stealing isn't good -- but it landed Bruno Mars a little extra media attention. Musicmetric recently named the "Gorilla" singer the most pirated musical artist of 2013.

Mars' fans stole him the No. 1 spot by downloading his music over 5.7 million times. Rihanna came in second with just over 5.4 million downloads. Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake and Flo Rida also made the cut.

The data analysis company based their numbers on downloads from BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer file sharing service.

The website notes that BitTorrent activity is "alive and well," but popular legal streaming services, such as Netflix and Hulu, are slowing causing the pirate ship to sink.
