With yet another win over a top-ranked team, the University of Arizona is making its case for the title of biggest spoiler in the NCAA.
The Wildcats’ 31-24 victory over the No. 2 Oregon Ducks Thursday is the school’s seventh win over an AP Top 10 team in the last 10 years.
Three of those wins came over Oregon, twice when they were No. 2 in the country — 34-24 in 2007, and this year’s game — and once when the Ducks were No. 5 — 42-16 in 2013.
Six of those seven wins came from an unranked Wildcats squad, the lone exception being 2010 when No. 24 Arizona knocked off No. 9 Iowa 34-27.
The Wildcats also had a 24-20 victory over No. 8 California in 2006 and a 52-14 win against No. 7 UCLA in 2005.
Thursday’s win is the only road game on the list; all of the other matchups were won in Tucson.
Arizona’s next game will be Oct. 11 at home against USC, whom the Wildcats beat in 2012 39-36 when the Trojans were No. 10.
