On the first day that college football programs could sign junior college players, the University of Arizona did quite well for itself, according to ESPN.
In an Insider piece, ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton listed the Wildcats among the “signing day winners.” Hamilton pointed to three players in particular who are poised to make an impact on Rich Rodriguez’s squad: Anthony Fotu, Paul Magloire and Matt Morin.
Hamilton said Fotu, a 6-foot-4 defensive tackle out of Laney (Calif.) College, is the No. 30 overall player. The reporter also notes the 6-foot-2 Magloire is a three-star safety. Magloire is a Lynbrook, New York, native, but played JuCo ball at Arizona Western College. Hamilton points out that Fotu and Magloire will be expected to battle for two starting spots that will be vacant in Arizona’s defense next season.
As for Morin, Hamilton said the 6-foot-2 performer out of Riverside (Calif.) Community College “could quickly become a factor at tight end.”
UA was just one of five schools listed in the “signing day winners” article.
