The Arizona Wildcats had a very good 2014 season, winning 10 games along with the Territorial Cup and the Pac-12 South title.

And depending on which prognostication you read, predictions for their 2015 campaign are all over the map.

If they are to put together another strong year, though, it will likely be in large part because of the play of quarterback linebacker Scooby Wright III, quarterback Anu Solomon, running back Nick Wilson and cornerback Will Parks, all of whom were named to Maxwell Football Club Awards watch lists Tuesday. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the country’s best college player.

Wright, the reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with 163 total tackles, 14.0 sacks and six forced fumbles, was also on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is given to the College Defensive Player of the Year. Wright won the award last season.

A redshirt sophomore, Solomon started all 14 games for Arizona last season, throwing for 3,793 yards and 28 touchdowns.

A true freshman, Wilson ran for 1,375 yards and 16 touchdowns on 236 carries, averaging 5.8 yards per tote on the way to setting the Wildcats’ freshman rushing record. He also ranked fourth nationally in rushing among FBS freshmen and was No. 1 among league freshmen in total yards.

Parks, a senior, tallied 81 tackles — 52 solo — in 14 games last season. He also notched 13.0 tackles for loss, and was one of two Pac-12 safeties on the watch list.
