Northern Arizona beats Sam Houston State 77-60

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — DeWayne Russell scored 22 points to lead Northern Arizona to a 77-60 victory over Sam Houston State Saturday in the Lumberjacks' home opener.
Gabe Rogers added 19 points for the Lumberjacks (3-4). Stallon Saldivar scored 11 and Gaellan Bewernick grabbed 12 rebounds for NAU, coming back after losing 93-50 at No. 9 Arizona on Wednesday.
DeMarcus Gatlin led the Bearkats (3-5) with 14 points. Terrance Motley had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Sam Houston State.
The season home opener for the Lumberjacks also marked their return to the Walkup Skydome, which underwent $26 million in renovation over the last two years. Northern Arizona played its home games at the Rolle Activity Center during that time.
