LMU holds off NAU for road overtime win

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Loyola Marymount scored the first five points of overtime, C.J. Blackwell made a key 3-pointer, and the Lions protected their lead at the free-throw line for a 92-86 victory against Northern Arizona on Wednesday night.
Anthony Ireland had 28 points and Ashley Hamilton 24 for Loyola Marymount (5-4), and both had baskets during the run to start the extra period. After the Lumberjacks (3-5) got back within a basket, Blackwell's shot from behind the arc made it 88-83 with 56 seconds remaining.
Dewayne Russell scored 23 points and Gabe Rogers 22 for Northern Arizona. Rogers made six 3-pointers.
Rogers' 3-pointer gave Northern Arizona a 80-77 lead with 49 seconds remaining in regulation, but Ireland responded with a 3 with 31 seconds left to force overtime.
Lions coach Max Good earned his 300th career victory over 21 seasons, the last five at Loyola Marymount.
