What the heck happened here?
In a wild, controversial ending to Friday night’s 61-59 Northern Arizona loss to Montana, the Grizzlies bench celebrated a go-ahead layup with less than a second remaining.
A staff member was caught on the court as the resulting in-bounds pass occurred, and footage shows him trying to dive off before play resumed.
After official review, no technical foul was administered as referees decided it did not affect the play — much to the fury of NAU’s side, as was clear by the angry shoving match that followed when the opposing coaches met postgame.
You know it’s bad when the college kids have to break up the adults:
To make matters more infuriating for the Lumberjacks, the loss ended their Big Sky Tournament run and Montana advanced to the championship game.
