Remember how the Arizona Cardinals were 4-0 in 2012?

Before Shane Doan contracted Rocky Mountain Fever, the Coyotes were one of the best teams in hockey.

How about the amazing start to Mark Reynolds’ and Trent Oeltjen’s Diamondbacks careers?

Here are a few things I’m way too excited about:

Suns draft

With three first-round picks in a stacked draft and a GM who knows what he’s doing, the Suns could walk away with Kevin Love or some excellent players. I need to calm down but I think the Suns are going to be significantly better in 2014-15.

Chase Anderson

He pitches to the score. His aggressiveness is equal to how big his lead is. He doesn’t care about his personal stats if the offense has given him a big lead. I hate it when guys are up by four and start nibbling.

Cardinals 2014 offense

They improved dramatically over the course of the 2013 season. Fitzgerald says he understands what he’s supposed to be doing. Floyd worked out with Palmer as early as February. Ellington has a second year as a pro to continue to develop. Cooper should be healthy. The tight end position has had a huge upgrade. There’s even a John Brown buzz.

D-backs outfield

The Three-P lineup of Parra, Peralta and Pollock is young, athletic and has some pop. The Cody Ross signing wasn’t good before the hip injury and it’s getting worse. There’s still a lot to prove and that’s why Trumbo shouldn’t be shipped out, but these three look great.

USMNT

The group of death is all it is cracked up to be. With Altidore going through the motions, the U.S. has no chance. If the recent Jozy is what we’ll see in Brazil, I’m feeling much better on the chances to pick up a few draws and advance out of pool play.

Out of all five subjects, only the Suns draft is “proven,” in a loose use of the term after only one year on the job for McDonough. All five could easily crash and burn. Logic is telling me to not even think about buying into any of the subjects. My heart is excited about what my eyes are seeing and my ears are hearing.

I’d be thrilled to get a 60 percent return on my early emotional investment.

In Carson Palmer I trust

Every $19.95 invention grabbed my attention. If I buy now, I can get my offer doubled. However, this offer is not available in stores! From age 5 to 14, almost every time an ad came on TV with an incredible idea, my dad would say, “If the offer is too good to believe, don’t.” Dad, […]

Great does not make Todd Gurley right for the Arizona Cardinals

A completely healthy Todd Gurley will be a great player in the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals should not draft Todd Gurley.
