If you want to trade Anquan, fine. I have no problem with that if you get equal value - like a 1st and a 3rd. If you want to keep Anquan, fine. He's my favorite player in the NFL and the respect I have for him cannot be measured.

But do me a favor: stop talking about how you can't lock up so much money in one position. The salary-cap has its restrictions but this is not one of them.

There are six things you can do in the game of football, six components that pump life into the Bloodsport. They are:

1)Running the football

2)Passing the football

3)Stopping the run

4)Stopping the pass

5)Kicking the ball

6)Returning the ball

The first four elements of the Bloodsport absorb 90% of your cap dollars. A team's identity and style of play is closely tied to the top four criterions shown above; it's how they win games. The NY Giants beat you with a strong running game and a lethal pass rush. Until last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat you the same way; the Arizona Cardinals beat you by throwing the football. This is how they win games. This is their identity. This is what they do - by far and away - better than anybody in the league.

So what's wrong with having more cap dollars locked up in Warner, Fitzgerald and Boldin? This is the Cardinals identity. This is how they win games. And although what I'm about to say is a gross simplification of their success, this is how they got to the Super Bowl last year.

Look at the other teams in the league that have had success. The Baltimore Ravens have a disproportionate amount of money locked up on the defensive side of the ball. Why? Because this is where the strength of their team lies. This is where they beat you with Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and Ed Reed.

And the examples continue. Teams that have great players concentrated on one side of the ball or at a position, are characterized by those players, Moreover, teams are not likely to let special players walk away. Why would you? They're special players.

And for the record: a regular offense - the base offense - in the NFL includes not one but two wide receivers. There is an "X" and a "Z" receiver. Anquan Boldin plays them both.

If you want to trade Anquan and feel the time is now, more power to you (as long as you get equal value). If you think trading Anquan Boldin is a massive mistake, I'm not going to argue with you. But please, in the name of all that is good and righteous, don't trade him because you can't have that much money locked up in one component of the game - unless you don't mind being mediocre in all areas of the game.

I agree. Every good NFL team loads their $ to their strength and then exploits the league with it. The tying that much $ into the WR position is a bad excuse.

Whether our identity is whatever...everybody has to show up. agree with what you say..value for value....accountants, capologists, don't play.... Bring what ya brung...and let's get it on...It's pretty simple, Wolf...It seems that's your take.pretty much all the time.

    Q
It would be crazy to trade Q for a 1st and a 3rd pick. Trading a great player for two unknowns is stupid. Sure they could pan out but they could also be a couple of major busts. Or they could be mediocre and move on to another team after thier initial stint in AZ and be great somewhere else. Why would you trade for anything less than excellence when excellence is what you already have? I say don't trade him unless you get a kings ransom in return, something like a 1st and a 3rd and a pro bowl player. Other wise keep him.

    Trading Q
Wolf: I concur 100%. Either get substantial value for Boldin or let him play out his option here! The Cardinals can Not afford to let him go unless that get, at least, two players who can contribute ASAP.

The trading of Q. That is the question.
Would I trade Q? Sure I would, but not unless I got an absolute KINGS RANSOM for him. Look up the Jay Cutler deal to see the definition of KINGS RANSOM. Let's be honest here. Q is a top 5 reciever. Cutler is not even a top 10 Quarterback. They were a far better team with Jake Plummer. Just look up the records and quarterback stats. Trust me. So, for you fools that think two first round picks would be an awesome trade I submit this challenge to you. Go back 5 years and write down the name of every single first round pick that was not a top 5 pick. Put everyone of those names in a hat. Close your eyes and randomly draw out two names. Would you trade those two players for Q. I can gaurantee you that over 80% of the time the answer will be no. Don't believe it? Try it. Hopefully Rod Graves is half as smart as yours truly and will do this test of history himself.

    Boldin trading
If Kurt Warner is the QB for the next two years, the Cardinals should obtain Torry Holt. He and Warner along with Bruce and Hakim created the "greatest show on turf". Holt and Fitzgerald would be the two key elements to creating a Western version of the same offensive scheme. Warner is known for passing to a spot with his receivers running to those spots. Fitzgerald is conditioned to that format and Holt was the master receiver for Warner during their time with the Rams. Its a proven scheme and one that has provided Super Bowl success. With Boldin out and Fitzgerald and Holt in the Cardinals line-up they could develop another similar type receiver and be a powerhouse in the NFC. John
