It's time for the Cardinals to cut their losses.

I'm sorry they wasted over $20 million dollars on Kevin Kolb and I certainly don't blame them for trying to get a franchise signal caller after the Derek Anderson disaster, but it's time for Kolb to go and I'm not talking about to the bench; I'm talking about the curb.

It's going to be a tough pill to swallow, especially when you consider the Cardinals not only gave up all that cash, but also also surrendered a second-round pick and a player in Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, who was a first-round pick.

But really what option do they have, keep a punch-drunk QB who is playing with no confidence, can't pull the trigger and doesn't seem to have any understanding of the offense?

No, it's time to admit your mistake now and move on. No good can come out of keeping him around when clearly Rich Bartel is better suited to be the backup quarterback.

Bartel is nothing special, but he can make the throws that are there and he does play with confidence. And unlike Kolb, he doesn't bolt the pocket at the first sign of trouble.

Maybe Kolb is better suited for an offense like Philadelphia, which behind scramblers Donovan McNabb and now Michael Vick had success in creating outside the pocket. But that backyard football doesn't work here where you need to read the defenses and make the play.

The Cardinals gave Kolb every opportunity to win this job for two years and he has failed to take advantage of it. I can't imagine there is any confidence in him inside the lockeroom or inside the organization, so why postpone the inevitable?

Kolb is not going to be on this team next year, so why should he be on it now? And if we're true to ourselves and asked which quarterback do you have more confidence in coming off the bench, Kolb or Bartel, I'm not sure Kolb wins that battle.

It's time for that pink slip.

I agree about cutting Kolb. I rooted for him to suceed, bought his jersey and everything. But Skelton is just better right now. I'm no so sure that I'd go with Bartel as the backup, not the way Lindley has played in the preseason.

    I don't blame the Cards
for trying to make their team better with Kolb, but being stubborn and sticking with Kolb isn't going to fix things. They tried, it didn't work, move on.

I agree that Kolb has to go. I was going to give him to the end of the season to make this judgement (giving him time to learn this offense), but it is clear now. Kolb will and cannot be an affective QB with the Cardinals. When that decision is made with the Cardinals front office then they need to get rid of him. I don't know how his contract is structured but do whatever it takes to cut him loose. Bye bye KK, don't let the door hit you on the way out!

    Why Take the Cap Hit?
It appears the guy that the Cardinals anointed "the QB of the future..." has lost all confidence not just in himself, but from the fans and analyst of 620. I can understand that for the reasons Gambo pointed out that he shouldn't even be the back-up, but with the cap space that opens up from cutting him, what other moves can this team make to be winners? They certainly weren't going to win more than 5 games anyway.

Going in with your Eyes WIDE Open
Is it just me or is it every time that I see a picture of Kevin Kolb getting ready to take a hit....HE's GOT HIS EYES CLOSED !! Hey KOLB this is big boy football....Maybe if you had your eyes wide open you'd know which way to run....Geeezzz. Skelton should be NO 1 QB / Lindley NO 2 / Korn Kolb should be G.O.N.E.

    Agree
After Kolbs disappointing play, I couldnt keep him as a #3 QB (cuz Lindley is playing better than him and Bartel) and pay him all that money. HONESTLY, I WAS AGAINST AZ ACQUIRING KOLB FOR DRC. I WAS COOL WITH A #1 DRAFT PICK DSAND A #2 DRAFT PICK (JUST TO GET IT DONE), BUT, I WASNT COOL WITH SHIPPING OFF DRC. But I see why it was done... To keep the fans happy. To try to improve production at that position. And to try to win. Cant blame them for that. But this trade shouldnt have happened with DRC in the deal. POINT BLANK. PERIOD.

    Totally Disagree
Fire Rod Graves and Russ Grimm. The Offensive Line has always been awful and has not changed. The same offensive line shortened Kurt Warner's career. The same offensive line that probably cost us two Super Bowls. Every QB you put back there will get pummeled. I am sure that's why Peyton is in Denver. He probably did his homework and watched every tape of the O line.

    Really?
So if Skelton goes down on week 1 for the season you are more comfortable handing the offense to Bartel over Kolb? At the end of the day Kolb will be one of the more solid backups in the NFL. Why not just keep him for the rest of the season? Lets not be too impulsive here.

    Time to go KK
I can no longer support someone who does not play the game with heart and compassion. Cards need to cut ties with him asap! There are plenty of backups they could go after. And while they are at it, fire Russ Grimm too!
