Mission Accomplished: 3-Peat

There is one feeling that never gets old in life and that's winning.

You know Charlie Sheen type winning!

I'm not sure the afternoon show has Tiger blood running through our veins, but we definitely have a Tiger Woods-like run going on the last three years. The Tiger before the nine iron to the grill. The Tiger whose mere presence struck fear into his opponents and the battle was over before it even began. That is kind of how I feel after the third straight dominating win over Doug and Wolf in the Bracket Beatdown.

For those that don't know the story, every year since we have been at Sports 620 KTAR we have had a "friendly" wager with the morning crew to see who can fill out a March Madness bracket better.

To be fair to the guys, they did win a few years ago and Gambo and I had to change the bases at a Arizona Diamondbacks game during the seventh inning as our payoff for losing.

To be honest, it was cool and hardly worthy of something losers should have been asked to do. That was four years ago and since then the stakes have risen and I'm proud to say so has our game!

Let's go back to three years ago, when the battle actually went down to the final game of the tournament and the afternoon show got their victory. We also got a front row seat to watch Doug, Wolf and Yoda (producer of the morning show for two of our three victories) squeeze into the Mustard, Relish and Ketchup costumes usually reserved for 10-year-olds to jump up and down on the dugout during the D-backs hot dog race at Chase Field. Yoda, who I believe was Ketchup took home the victory.

Rewind to last year. As if jumping up and down as relish wasn't humiliating enough, the Commish Dave Burns decided the payoff would be for the losers to jump into those giant gerbil balls at the Phoenix Suns games and scurry around the court at the US Airways Center to the pleasure of the crowd. Last year's beat down was ugly!

It did however give Doug-lease the opportunity to show off his gerbil ball skills as he proved that if there was a varsity gerbil ball team he would have been all-state!

That brings us to this year's battle.

Could there really be a 3-peat (sorry Pat Riley), could the domination actually continue? The Commish decided this year to bring the female element into the equation.

Enter Fun Katy from the Doug & Wolf show and of course the Voice of Reason from the Gambo and Ash show, Kyndra De St. Aubin.

No disrespect to Fun Katy, but I was very confident in Kyndra's ability to win that battle. Minnesota didn't make it to the tournament so I knew we were OK. Kyndra 136 points-Fun Katy 80..OUCH!

Doug continues to claim that he always leads his team and that others have let him down, but if memory serves me correctly it is actually Wolf who does the leading and he did so this year again.

Wolf 122 points-Ash 108.

I take one for the team here because that's the kind of guy I am. I am a great wingman! That leaves Doug vs Gambo.

This is the position Doug wanted to be in, the opportunity to lead his team and be the hero. However, a lot like his pick to win it all Kansas, he was more bark than bite. Doug finished with 90 points. Even though Gambo was our team's lowest score, his 104 points was plenty to give the afternoon show the trifecta 348-292.

This thing was over by Friday nights games. I am hoping next year they actually make it through the Sweet Sixteen.

I really hope someone from the morning show gets to wear the Mark Grace head since he never gets to win, it would only be fitting!
