A look behind 'House Sitting with Ash'

Ash and Shane Doan getting ready to take a couple of Doan's horses out for a ride.
This a new feature I am doing here on ArizonaSports.com that will air every 4-6 weeks.
This is something I have always wanted to do and actually came up with the idea about seven years ago after watching an episode of Cribs on MTV. I figured I know so many athletes being in the position I am in and most of them like me, so why not do a show about their houses here in Arizona.
Now that we have this great new web site and one of the most talented video producers around in Jordan Allen, all I needed was for the athletes to actually say yes.
Thankfully, I have four athletes who have already agreed to show off their places. This is going to be a lot of fun.
Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan is one of my good friends that is an athlete, so I asked him first. His wife Andrea wouldn't let me in their real house, so we went to his new ranch -- Ice Barns.
Doaner is really proud of the ranch and actually has plans to turn it into a horse riding country club down the road. If you didn't know, Doan is a real cowboy and is a very experienced rider. In fact, he told me the reason he thinks he has never had any sort of groin injury is because of his horse riding.
There are 21 horses on the property and a few calves for roping. The ranch is on five acres and could eventually host weddings and kids parties, as well as the country club.
I will be honest I am not much of a horse person as you will see in the video, but I did really enjoy learning about the horses and how to care for them. One part you won't see on the video is when Doaner had me loping on my horse in the desert. I am sure we weren't actually going that fast, but to me it felt like I was coming down the stretch in the Kentucky Derby.
I hope you enjoy the video and stay tuned for some of the next houses that I have to sit.
