Man did I miss me some football!

I would first like to take a moment and thank all of you that have reached out to me through email, Facebook and Twitter. Your comments have lifted my spirits and made me feel good about the 13 years I had on the air. Life is full of challenges and this is just another in my life. I will be just fine and look forward to my future.

With that being said...how 'bout that football game?

Sometimes you forget how good something is until it's gone and that is how I feel about football finally being back. This off-season was a complete drag. I was so sick of talking about the lockout and whether or not Kevin Kolb was going to be the Cardinals' quarterback. It really made me lose a little love for the sport.

Well, guess what? That love is back in full force after one meaningless Cardinals preseason game. This sport is king for a reason. We all need it in our lives!

A few observations that I took out of the first game. Kevin Kolb looked OK. Not bad, not great, just OK. I do like that he hooked up with Larry Fitzgerald a couple of times, but let's be honest. That play was made by Fitz.

Ryan Williams is going to be the starting running back for this team by Week 2, maybe earlier. I love Beanie Wells and I don't think he played bad, but I just think Williams is the real deal and Coach Whiz will lose patience with Wells quickly.

Max Hall should be the starting quarterback of this team after that 4th quarter drive! Sorry, that was from the hundreds of emails I received last year during the preseason.

Stephen Williams did his annual "I am going to kick serious ass during the preseason" routine. In all seriousness, these young kids performed in the preseason last year and then didn't really do much during the regular season. This year they need to do more all season long.

Todd Heap in one preseason game just became the best tight end the Arizona Cardinals have ever had. I think Heap will be a big asset to the Cards all season long.

I also think John Skelton has a chance to be a very reliable backup and, in case of an emergency, could do just fine in Kolb's place. In all, I was pleased with the teams performance and look forward to the next game.

    o-line
Kolb won't be good because of having to run around for his life behind a below average O-line. The o-line was poor at best last night. I could say more.. but poor o-line play will kill the Cards all year.

    Crud! No Ash!
Guess I will have to listen to Dr. Sky in the middle of the night, 'cause I can't listen to Gambo with no Ash. I took 620 out of my memory presents in the stereo.

    First Tom Dillon now Ash.
I don't get these decisions. Ash is obviously loved around here. He is the reason I listen to K-TAR in the first place because he is a fan of the "home team." I don't know much about the radio business. This move proves that because I don't have a clue why he is going away.

    Lets be honest...
I listened to the show to hear from Ash...I like Burns, but he was much better in his solo role on Sports Interactive...Gambo is a NY homer that really has no connection to AZ sports...I would love to hear Ash and Jurecki...cause I sure could do without Gambo and Bickley..
Proud to be a CARDS FAN!

    Really?
Dickley sucks. Gambo is a Yankee homer-yes.He is also a Giants homer, however,he has built a better "connection" to Arizona sports than any other guy here in town. More breaking news comes from Gambo than anyone else. Sure, he is a bit dumb for liking the Yankees, but in New York you are either a Yankees fan or smart.. But he is definitely a fixture he in town. As for Ash- has anyone thought that maybe he wanted to do this? Just asking.. Doesn't seem likely, but it is a possibility.. As for the Cards- No O Line means not even Aaron Rodgers can win here... AZ Sports Talk Radio With No AZ Football Presence?
First anyone how calls themselves Burnsie just needs his butt kicked in the parking lot. Next you have Gambo that all of a sudden out of the blue with Ash gone starts talking about how much he lkes the Cards. It is so fake an a weak attempt to get people to believe he is an AZ sports fan. So now we have a guy that calls himself Burnsie and still trying to relive his college days at Cal and a NY sports fanatic as our drive home. No thanks changing the dial -

    Good to hear from you
Thank god Football is back and you too in a way Ash. Dumb move by KTAR execs going "National". Looking forward to hearing you on the air in January, whether it is 910 or 1060. I hope Gambo goes too, but I know he has bills to pay but that is an insult to do 11-2.

I've enjoyed listening ever since you, Vince and MJ did the Roundtable on KGME. Here's hoping that whatever you do next is in Phoenix, since Sports Radio in this town just wouldn't be the same without you.
