The honeymoon is over for Kevin Kolb

Two months ago Arizona Cardinals fans got a brand new toy that had them so excited they couldn't wait to get home and play with it. It was a toy they hadn't had in over a year and knew that once they had this toy all their other toys would work so much better. The toy was a QB named Kevin Kolb, and the Cardinals had to trade a toy they already had to get the new one. The toy they traded was a really good toy, that sometimes would frustrate the fans, but they knew in the long run they kind of needed the new one.

It's kind of like the movie Toy Story. Kevin Kolb was the toy that didn't get played with in his other house, but once we got him he was happy to be the top toy and get the top toy attention. The problem I am starting to see is that the toy sometimes looks cooler in the box and then once you get the toy out and start to play with it, it doesn't work as well as you think it should.

That is where I am at right now. The Arizona Cardinals are 1-2 on the season. Even with that hand me down toy at QB last year the team was 2-1. The team has lost two straight on the road and probably should have won both games, and if they did I wouldn't even be writing this column. However, I am writing this column because all that matters to me are wins and losses, and right now the Cardinals have more losses and that just won't cut it.

This division is terrible once again and it seems like a race to 8 wins to be called champion. Now I will say the blame should not fall completely on the shoulders of Kolb; he has actually been ok through 3 games and there are plenty of other problems this team is facing.

The interception on the last drive, to me, is what separates the good from the not so good. That was the drive Kolb needed to get for us to love our new toy again. Go get a win, get this team into first place and start carving your own niche in this town. Instead, today a lot of people are uttering the phrase "same old Cardinals."

The bye is in three weeks and the best the Cardinals can be is 3-2 going into it. After that you have Pittsburgh and Baltimore waiting for you, and if you thought it was tough to move the ball against Seattle just wait!

I don't want to see this season go in the wrong direction again. Last year was not fun at all and this year is supposed to be different, and it's all because of the new toy that didn't get played with at his old house. Kevin Kolb, please go win some games so we don't have to put you in the attic with all the other defective toys we have had!

    AAHHH.. WE SUCK AGAIN
So we are back to wishing field goals were hit or that we had old players back on our roster. Did anyone see the Redskins last night? They beat the Cardinals. I am sorry but 4-12 looks way to generous at this point. I am not going to bang on Kolb too much. He is a rookie, and last week his top 2 backs were down. I said at the start he has 8 games with me to prove himself. So far he has proven to be a bust, but he still has 5 more games. I have said for years that Coach Whis is OVER RATED. Still think he has a poor game plan every week. Jarrod

Kolb was the best QB PROSPECT available.Fits is happy and signed..Bill wouldn't have done this...we have hope.. the O line needs work..we need a #2 receiver and time to gel..and I would like to see an offensive coordinator..we have a young RB to push Wells next year...It could still happen this year ..maybe not...but we have hope..and we have football, unlike basketball...enjoy

    Coach Whiz
I may be wrong but still think Coach Whiz's mouth is part of the problem. He is always sugarcoating mistakes- "its a learning process", "it takes time", " we see improvements",etc etc. Kick some butt and demand performance! Produce or sit on the bench or maybe get cut!

    What do we do now?
Where do we go from here. The losses of a good young RB as well as our best corner (Toler) has really exposed our thin red line. Quality teams build depth at key positions. We haven't done that. Some of us old timers get really tired of todays players and their owies. Wells said he felt good on Sat. and then they pulled him. I guess they're saving him for something. One last thing - we still need a coach for the O line. How many years of bad fronts can we take?

    The New Toy
Kevin Kolb was, and is, the best option for the Cardinals. As fans we need to be a little more patient as Kolb learns the offense, and learns each of his receivers ins and outs. Coach Wiz had commented earlier that because of the NFL lockout, the team was about 1,000 snaps behind where they would normally be headed into regular season games. That is a lot of learning. The O-line needs to step up too! I can't help but to believe that good things will come the Cards way this season.

    Predictable Cards
Amen,brothers,...I`m a long timer myself and,for my own observations, some of the formations they try to throw, and especially run out of this season so far, make me shake my head too... Our secondary is the worst I`ve seen from any team this year.Just wait until some of the better teams play us,we`ll be in big assed trouble and Kolb will be the Goat.

    Relax
There are a lot of mental errors going on right now, which IS to be exepected with a new QB, and other offensive components. Not to mention they are infusing these players with a shortened offseason because of the lockout. I all ready see the bandwagoners jumping off again...

    Really?
"Really, Really"? Listen everyone, football 101 - if you don't have a O-Line.... You can't throw the ball and you can't run the ball!!!! which leads to Loser! PS if anyone has played the game of football, they would know losing DRC was not a big deal.
