Everybody has at least one. Mine is George Michael's "Freedom."

One song on your iPod that you're embarrassed to own. One song that, when it blares out of your car stereo, up go the windows.

When George belts out "I won't let you down...I will not give you up" there is an internal acknowledgement; I should not have this song on my iPod/I cannot imagine my iPod without it.

The talk about Peyton Manning to the Arizona Cardinals is similarly equal parts shame and love. As irrational and speculative as it is, I simply can't rise above it. I can't stop thinking about it.

On some level, I agree with Darren Urban of azcardinals.com who has written that it's not even worth discussing. He's right. It's absurd speculation. Like that movie "Inception" it's a dream within a dream within a dream. A healthy Peyton Manning getting cut by the Indianapolis Colts and wanting to play for the Arizona Cardinals. Yeah, sure. Sorry Leo, that top is going spin for the rest of eternity.

So why the fixation, beyond of course the pure desire that I want it to be real? I blame Doug Franz and Ron Jaworski:

Franz because he planted the seed of an idea. When Charlie Casserly reports the Manning camp hasn't had any discussions with the Colts about his future the natural follow up question in that off-the-record chat is…well where would he want to go if he isn't with the Colts? Casserly tells a national audience that the Cardinals are a dark horse candidate for Manning because somebody from Manning's camp told him that. Casserly didn't pluck the Cards out of thin air. He was handed that information.

Part 2, I blame Jaws for what he told me on Thursday. Andrew Luck is so good, so NFL ready right now; he has to play right away. He's too good to sit.

Suddenly the absurd speculation turns to a semi-logical timeline. The Colts, armed with the number one pick, stand on the precipice of a new era. A new coach, new GM and new quarterback poised to shift into the next decade with very little down time in between. You're not sure Manning is healthy and what sense does it make to pay him $28 million when you probably should be starting Luck anyway. All you're doing is paying a lot of money to delay the inevitable. Now Manning is free. Show me another opportunity that provides the warmth, weather, facility, stability, style of offense and most importantly…Larry Fitzgerald. Without him the Cardinals aren't in the conversation.

So for now I'll enjoy the song even though I have no business listening to it. Like George sang "All we have to do now is take these lies and make them true somehow…"

    Dreaming
It is a dream, and I doubt it will happen. But I wonder if the front office and whiz are tuned into this potential opportunity? They seem hard headed and incompetent at times. I wonder if they think it is far fetch and will pick up bust Kolb and prove they can win with him instead of waiting and playing their cards right? I hope it does happen, but I am not holding my breath. If it does happen, that line needs a lot of help.

Why? Cap space. I remember as a kid when we went school shopping I wanted the best pair of shoes. My mom said "if I get u those expensive shoes I can't get you pants and shirts". So I had to settle for inexpensive shoes so I could get pants and shirts too. As it is, Fitz is those pair of expensive shoes and we're struggling to find decent pants and shirts. Imagine if we get Manning? Where r we gna get decent pants and shirts?

    More problems
Even if we do get Manning, he will still end up as a Kobb. We dont have a great offensive line to stop from getting him sacked so in my opinion he will just be another Kobb who ends up getting more concussions and riding the bench. Cool to have him and watch him and Fitz hook up but it just takes one hit and our line cant stop it.

    I'm sure that....
Kurt Warner has spoken to Peyton about playing for Whiz and being in AZ. It might not be out of the question. Peyton is going to have a monster chip on his shoulder and the Cards are in serious position to compete. I think this Cards team is better than the super bowl team, except for Kurt of course. Insert Peyton for Kurt, spend every other penny you have on protection, make sure Horton stays, playoffs here we come.

    Uh, no.
I think Manning is done. And for what the Cards would have to pay him they can probably shore up a couple different areas.

    It would be silly.
How can you give up on Kolb. # 1.There was no training camp. #2. He is learning a new system. #3. The line (enough said). #4. Offensive coor. and Qb coach. You would have to be crazy to give up on Kolb. The situation was not one to throw a new Qb into. He really had no chance. It was simply coaching this year. If anyone of you were thrust into the same situation, you would bring up every point I did. Give Kolb next year. If the line doesn't improve then Kolb will again struggle. He is not the reason the Cards went 8-8.

    So they bring in Peyton.
Release Kolb. Manning has one year, 2 at the most. Then what? Skelton takes over? Skelton has not shown great accuracy. If the front office was so confident in Skelton, why did they acquire Kolb? I'm not saying Skelton is out of the picture. Manning has a repaired neck, how long before he re-injures his neck? It has already been said he is a solid hit from placing his name on a HOF ballet. I don't think Whisenhunt is a bad coach, but he has gone in the wrong direction since 2008. Remember Kolb is the Qb Fitzgerald wanted. Kolb deserves another year.

We left $20M in space last year, $7M this year.
We have plenty of cap space, $7M right now. First, trading Kolb opens $11M. Plus Porter is gone $4M, Brown $5M will sign as RT for alot less-he isnt going to get offers elsewhere. Trade Dockett ($9M) and next years (2013) 1st for Manning. Then we sign Manning for 4 yrs 18M/yr, Get OLB Williams ($7M), Campbell ext at $8.5M-$9M/yr. Sub: $7+$11+$4+$3.5(Brown)+$9M=+$34.5. Add: $18+$7+9=$34. $34.5 vs $34. You telling me you would rather have corn on the Kolb and Dockett than Manning and Williams? 2012 Draft (1)OT (3)SS (4)WR (5)DT. Both sides o'ball are better.

Secondly, we dont have a NFL QB
Kolb might end up being decent, but Fitz may retire then. Skelton has higher upside but obviously still an adolescent between the ears. It is a win-now league. Fans, I am tired of hearing Manning is done. Nobody knows, so quit acting like you do! Every player in the NFL is one hit away and they all have looming injuries. Cmon! FYI, with a horrible D...2010 10-6, 2009 14-2, 2008 12-4, 2007 13-3. And in 2011 (2-14). Hmmm I wonder why. If he is done, then 'done' is still better than any QB in Cards History!!!

    Further...You aint seen nothin
...until you see Manning to Fitz. If my wish were to come true and Manning comes here. That connection will be unbelievable. You will see the game at a whole new level. A double threat run game, a pinpoint accurate flamethrower and a receiver with gecko hands---all with superior work-ethic. Holy crap-a-roni! Now add 2 possession recvrs, 3 TEs with hands and a defense in the top 10. Although it appears the Org is headed upward, this is EXACTLY what the organization needs to propel itself out of the NFL cellar to a place that players dream of being.
