When you make your living talking about sports, through the sheer nature of quantity, you're going to ending up saying some things that you don't really believe will come to fruition. You discuss hypotheticals. You play devil's advocate. Suffice to say, most of these what-if scenarios you end up discussing never happen.

So last week when I said on the show something to the extent of "the Cardinals better not lose to the Rams…..if they do, it might get loud in here" I'll be honest with you; it never occurred to me that it might actually happen.

It's like one of those empty threat grenades I lob in the direction of my teenage children every now and then. Clean your room or I'll…I'll….take away your TV! Would I have actually done it? I don't know because it never, ever comes to that.

The Cardinals better not lose to the Rams. If they do, it might get loud in here.

They did and it is. Very.

So loud that for the first time, to my knowledge anyhow, Ken Whisenhunt was asked about his job status (by none other than the esteemed Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic). Coach provided a professional response, noting that such talk was part of the business and that nobody feels worse about this then the coaching staff does. Whiz answered the question like he knew it was coming.

After a dreadful game like the one just witnessed how could it not be?

The offense, Whiz's specialty, is in desperate need of a reboot akin to that of Bond or Batman. After a sensational start, Ryan Lindley threw four interceptions and two pick-sixes. After being overthrown and underthrown, definitely bet the over on whether or not Larry Fitzgerald is frustrated.

The once mighty advantage of University of Phoenix Stadium has been picked over like your Thanksgiving turkey after losses to the Bills and Rams. Combined, those two teams have three road wins this season, two of which were against the Cardinals (the Bills also beat the Browns on the road).

The defense gave up only 17 points that weren't the result of Lindley's inaccuracy and in the second half played like a unit that was worn out from having to carry the load.

Most damning of all, this was to be the game that ended the losing streak. If you can't beat the Rams at home then where does it end? How does it end? Next week against the Jets? Yeah, they're a joke, but you just got thumped at home by the Rams. On the joke depth chart that's pretty hard to beat. At Seattle? San Francisco? Home to the Bears or Lions?

Odds say it will end and the Cardinals won't end the season on a 12-game losing streak. But even when it does, the clean house crowd will have two strong pieces of evidence: the inability to find a post-Warner quarterback and losing streaks of seven, six and seven (and counting) over the last three years.

Certainly the noise, and the unease, is justified and it remains to be seen if this team and this coach can do anything to quiet it. Perhaps the return of Kevin Kolb will level off the descent. Though that return is hovering somewhere between a when and an if. No one is certain.

That uncertainty plagues the head coach as well whose future is, at best, muddled.

    Whiz is not it
Since he cannot find the rhythm with the offense. But what about Rod Graves...is he on the hot seat. Doesn't he have say on which QB and talent to go after. I say if coach goes so does the GM. We need to move in another direction. I like Horton for head coach and bring in another OC.

Haven't we seen enough of this disgusting offense and the man at the helm? This coaching staff is pathetic!!!! Unable to evaluate talent, unable to make gametime adjustments, unable to change the losing post game speech!!!! Its all disgusting, throw it out of town!!!!!!!!!

    I saw this coming
Whiz has mismanaged the draft, free agency, every QB since Warner and OC position. I could run off examples of problems with each, but I'm getting tired of it. Those examples should be obvious. He's got no one to blame but himself and should be fired along with Graves. Hire Horton and let him bring in whoever he wants. When they were 4-0 and losing to the Rams the first time, I said the blueprint was out on how to beat the Cards and they stood a real good chance of losing 12 straight. If they lose to the pathetic Jets, the probability is going way over 50% that will happen.

    we all knew
We could tell all along that the Cards mettle would be tested this year offensively, with two raw tackles and a questionable set of backs coming into the season. Kolb has seemed injury prone, sorry to say. To me, this horrible season would be strike two. With where he took the team in the past Whiz deserves another year to get one more crack at getting things right.

    Whiz's Issues
The most glaring problems is the inability for Whiz to bend. Stubborness will be his undoing. Pulling Skelton last week to prove a point was just one of many mishandled decisions. Skelton definitely was not "on" but he wasn't throwing picks. Refusing to run a semi no-huddle offense to help Skelton or for that fact, Kolb,is another. Skelton/Kolb both excel during the no-huddle or hurry up if one watches tapes back to last year. Whiz seems good, but putting the best players/schemes on the field to win, could definitely be called into question. The Skelton decision lost the team and possibly job.

    Whiz
I still think Whiz is a good coach, and really I think two things need to change in order for them to be at least passable offensively. First and formeost, the playcalling. When the suits in the booth comment on how questionable the playcalling is, you know you have a problem. Their inability to put people in positions to succeed or even confuse the defense has really held us back. Secondly, said it before nad ill say it again, an above average LT would change the face of the team.

    Since all
decisions on players and play calling go through Wizenhunt he is the firstto have the ax fall on his neck. Graves also for allowing the drafting of the best player on the board instaed of the best player for the postion in need. Miller also needs to go. The Horton needs to be elevated to HC. The QB Coach will be interim OC. Bidwells need to talk to Chip Kelly about becoming the head coach, and finally have a aggresive Coach. Kolb, Skelton, Weanie Wells, Wilson, Rhodes alll need to be relieved of their contracts.

    I knew it...
I knew all along since training camp when the coach could not figure out who the quarterback was going to be and looking at the offensive line, that this was going to be a disaster. It is all on him, the coach. Period. He has to take the blame and responsibility for everything. He has done nothing to warrent coming back next season. Maybe the Bidwells will break the bank for someone else.
