Though it may be difficult to believe sometimes, I am a Phoenix Suns fan. I grew up watching the team and would like nothing more than to see someone wearing purple and orange hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

It is for those reasons why I have been frustrated with the moves they've made over the last seven few years. Watching a team that was so close to a title fall short, largely because of self-inflicted wounds, has not been easy to take.

Back in the lottery, the Suns are rumored to be interested in trading up to the No. 2 spot, securing Derrick Williams while parting with Marcin Gortat.

At first glance I agreed with my colleague Espo, who says the team can't afford to trade Gortat. The move would have the appearance of a classic 'Bad Suns' move, a foolish trade that would set the team back. Thinking about it a little more, though, I decided the trade wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. In fact, I'm all for it.

I don't know about this one
I'm a die hard U of A fan and I love D-Will. It would awesome to see him in a Suns jersey but I don't think the Suns are in a position to take someone a that position right now. Probably because i don't trust Lopez enough to step up his game and reach his potential.

    Spot on.
you should tell Espo to listen to you. Gortat will be exactly this. A very solid center on a bad basketball team. He is a banger that will get you 15/10 on most nights. Tell me what championship team builds around 15/10? And he's already in his prime? Gortat is nice, but if you have the opportunity to go get a potential franchise guy you do it. We can fill the hole Gortat would leave in trades or FA.

    I don't think so
First I disagree with you on Lopez. I don't see it. Second I don't think it is a given that D-Wil will be better than a 15/10 guy. It is possible but not a lock. I also don't hear anyone raving about Williams's defensive skills. Gortat is a decent defender one of the few the Suns have. Gortat also has less than a season as a major minutes guy. I would like to see Gortat go through a training camp and become a starter. I would deal Lopez.
