What Were They Thinking... I can't stand that the Minnesota Vikings are allowing Brett Favre to string them along. Favre has become more attention craving than Terrell Owens or Chad Ochocinco. Monday's headline was Favre's throwing motion looks good. Thank you, I really needed to hear that update. Didn't the Vikes watch the debacle that the Jets became at the end of last season? A surgery does not fix Favre throwing passes into triple coverage. The only fix for that is for Favre to lose his ego and judging by his performance this offseason it does not look like that is going anywhere.

What Were They Thinking... Tim Wakefield made it to the All-Star game for the first time at the age of 42. He deserved to pitch in the game and Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon made a mistake not sending him to the mound. I understand that the game is for home field advantage in the World Series, but it is still an All-Star game. I don't want to hear the excuse that the catchers aren't used to catching knuckleballs. One batter wouldn't have killed anyone.

What Were They Thinking... HBO this week showed all three Micky Ward-Arturo Gatti fights after the sad death of Gatti. I would love to know what was going through these two warriors heads as they pounded each others brains in for 30 rounds. They were incredibly brutal fights and unbelievable to watch. This is what boxing fans want to see and it makes you understand why the best athletes no longer participate in the sport.

What Were They Thinking... What in the world was Fox thinking with its camera angle on Barack Obama's ceremonial first pitch? I thought throughout the week the media was making way too big of a deal that he was throwing out the first pitch. I don't care whether he warms up before he goes out or not. Then to cap it off Fox decides to do a close up of Obama instead of showing the pitch, great job.
