Tales from the road: 'The haul to the Hall'

Fortunately, despite battling bronchitis and a severely painful back over the past couple of weeks, I've been lucky to get a healthy dose of that stuff with the last 24 hours leaning heavily toward the food & football.

I especially enjoyed seeing the reactions of guys like Ron Wolfley, Damien Anderson and Rolando Cantu who all played the game.
Seeing how well-represented the Cardinals are in the Hall reminded me about just how proud of a franchise it is and how lucky I am to be in my ninth year working for them. The moment that stole the show was when Spanish voice of the Cards Gabriel Trujillo (@LaVozRoja on Twitter) recognized his call playing on one of the screens.

After the tour it was nearly game time and I could sense that everyone around me was sharing my excitement for the return of football. I have no doubt most of you have already digested what we saw in Sunday's preseason opener between the Cardinals and the Saints in Canton. And while the performance may have been a bit of a letdown, in the end I think that we learned very little about what this team's makeup will be in the upcoming season.
The overwhelming feeling after the 17-10 loss was disappointment in and for Kevin Kolb, whose miserable performance on the field was made worse by how short-lived it was. I'm not sure what the difference is between a rib contusion and a bruised chest muscle, but the thing that may be bleeding most from Kolb right now is his confidence and the confidence his teammates have that he's the guy for the job.

The Cardinals will be practicing here at the home of the Griffons and former home of one time Colts, Lions and recently Jags FB Gijon Robinson, who tops the list of three former MWSU players to get to the NFL (heavy research afternoon).
The team arrives later Monday night and will immediately get back to training for Friday night's game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Thanks to the Cardinals moving Dave Pasch and Ron Wolfley to ABC 15's television coverage this year, I get to do what I love more than anything in broadcasting and handle the radio play-by-play duties for this game, as well as the home games against the Raiders and Broncos.
In the meantime, I'll be checking in both here on ArizonaSports.com as well as during the Doug & Wolf show for the next couple days and look forward to providing more football news than food news, unless of course the cafeteria grub is as impressive as the stuff you get at gas stations in these parts!
