Arizona Wildcats hold steady at No. 3 in AP, coaches polls

Dec 15, 2014, 6:45 PM | Updated: 7:05 pm

The undefeated Arizona Wildcats remained No. 3 in the Associated Press and USA TODAY coaches polls following a week that featured a pair of easy wins.

UA earned blowout home victories over Utah Valley and Michigan last week to move to 10-0 on the season.

The Wildcats earned one first-place vote in the coaches poll.

There was no change in the top 5 in either poll, as Kentucky remained in the top spot while Duke stayed at No. 2. Louisville is fourth and Virginia is fifth in both polls.

Two other Pac-12 teams are represented in the top 25: Utah is ranked No. 14 in both polls, while Washington is No. 16 in both.

The Wildcats have defeated two teams currently ranked in both top 25 polls: Gonzaga, which is No. 8 in both polls, and San Diego State, which is 19th in the AP poll and 17th in the coaches poll.

Arizona has three more games remaining on its non-conference schedule, starting with a home matchup with Oakland on Tuesday night. The Wildcats will go on the road to face UTEP on Friday and UNLV on Dec. 23 before opening Pac-12 play at home against Arizona State on Jan. 4.
