Latino bashers, I introduce you to Carlos Arredondo

Hey, white Anglo guy.

Not all of you. Just the one who keeps sending comments to my computer about anything negative done by anyone with a Latino name.

I'm sure you must have seen them. If there's a news story about a drive-by shooting and there's a suspect named Guillermo, this guy writes a response like "What do you expect from them?" He, of course, ignores the fact that the victim's name is Ricardo.

It doesn't matter what the story is, either -- crime, a foreclosure, a traffic accident -- he calls attention that some person with a Latino name has failed.

Well, white Anglo guy, here's one of those names I'd like you to remember. In fact, I'd like you to find him on the Internet. His name is Carlos Arredondo.

He's fairly easy to find among the street interviews from Boston on Monday. He's the one covered in the blood of the casualties he tried to save. The American flag he's holding is bloody too. Carlos had to use it as a tourniquet working for the Red Cross.

I don't know whether Carlos Arredondo is an American citizen, but I do know he's a "hroe." That's Spanish for hero!

I'm Pat McMahon.

Indeed lots of latino bashing in these
comments on KTAR. I also see lots of "senior" bashing on here. More from Micho than anyone else I see. Criticizing someone for being old is quite pathetic. Criticize someone for their beliefs, but not for being old.

Thanks, Pat. Most of the comments on here are pretty hateful and they probably share the opinions of the individual you reference. In the end, some people enjoy hating others. It's the only way they have to justify themselves as being superior and to such damaged individuals being superior is more important that the air they breathe. They might hate women, Hispanics, African Americans, poor people, you name it....I pity them. Keep up the good work.

    Gee . . .
I just thought Arredondo was a great guy who did a great deed. Your reference to his citizenship or lack thereof really has nothing to do with his good deeds. But since you pursued the profiling aspect as to why a Latino was found to have done something heroic . . . and what he might have been doing there . . . If he were illegally here, he would still have illegal status as an otherwise amazing guy. To correlate bashing with culture rather than bashing with illegal is an unfortunate misunderstanding

How sad that some have nothing better to do than to criticize your comments! What you continue to bring to KTAR is obvious skill, plus high quality, insightful, courteous interview techniques, humility, compassion, and so much more. You add a delightful atmosphere of elegance to all of your broadcasts. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us who enjoy listening to you.

Is this how we treat a hero?
From the New York Post: Investigators continued to sift through clues from the powerful blasts as the suspects remained at large. They took items from the home of Carlos Arredondo, the cowboy-hat-wearing peace activist who bravely helped some of the wounded spectators, including a man who lost both legs. “They took my clothes, my shoes, my pants, my T-shirt — whatever they needed I provided to them,” he told Boston’s WBZ-TV.

Pretty high horse you're on there isn't it? You must feel so superior when judging others.
