Kevin Kolb dropped back to pass, saw the pressure and took off running.

Fifteen yards later, the new Cards QB had the team's first first down of the preseason.

Kolb ran again three plays later, showing an aspect of his game many didn't realize he had.

"I ran the ball quite a bit in college," Kolb said Monday. "It's not the best part of my game but I think I can get around and move if I have to."

The Cardinals, certainly, are hoping that doesn't happen often, even though their QB did rush for 19 touchdowns back in his collegiate days.

That Kolb ran with success was a good thing, but that he had to abandon looking downfield and avoid the rush most certainly was not.

Then again, as head coach Ken Whisenhunt said, it's the type of skill that could come in handy.

"I don't think you necessarily count on his ability to be able to run," he said, "but it's certainly a bonus when things break down."

In any event, nobody is going to confuse Kolb for the man who replaced him in Philadelphia anytime soon.

So, aside from the occasional QB sneak, it appears you will not be seeing Kolb off and running -- unless he absolutely has to.

"If you're asking me if we're going to have about four or five designed quarterback runs in a game, probably not," Whisenhunt said.

    yea let him do that.
And another thing. To my own role model Larry Fitzgerald: Spread the love... I know you force double coverage on yourself to get Todd, Jeff, Beanie, Early, Andre, etc (all your other teamates). And when Kevin gets started you'll start winning those games a team has to win every year (including the playoffs), lol! Nice talking to you fitz. Later -your greatest fan!

    what??
That sounded stupid... What I meant to say was: get your teamates involved. Once "kevin and the bunch" get started, YOU win games!

all Fitz wants to do is win
If the Cards staff gets that team winning, Fitz will re-sign. He is starting to become a distraction. Are you gonna re-sign or not? If not tell everyone why. The answer is you want to win. It also starts with you too my brotha. Shoot... If I'm a head coach I'm telling you that your gonna be a good run blocker too for that much money...

    Stop Slobbering Adam
Adam, can you and the rest of the Arizona media quit slobbering all over Kolb until he has done something? I hope he makes this thing go too, but come on. The guy farts and you guys in the media get all tingly. He makes one decent play against Oakland, the scramble to his right for a first down and everyone talks about how great he did. The throw to Fitz was a prayer and anyone with some FB intel knows it. Against any decent DB that is either picked off or knocked down. No doubt that Fitz will take it away from any average DB and save Kolb which is important.
