It may have been a short blog post, but it could deflate a lot of Arizona Cardinals' fans hopes.

ESPN's NFC West Blog rained on new Cardinal running back Chester Taylor's parade with a few stats about Taylor's recent running struggles.

According to the blog, Taylor's average run last year was only for 2.38 yards, making it the worst for any back with a minimum of 100 carries in a season since 1970.

Never fear, Cards fans. Taylor wasn't for an explosive run game for huge yards every Sunday -- though that would help my fantasy team -- because he doesn't offer one.

As a veteran back, Taylor offers the Cardinals an option for short-yardage third downs, pass protection and a decent set of receiving hands in the backfield. Basically, he's not going to be a big-name back racking up big plays a la Adrian Peterson, but he has a role to play. It may not be glamorous, but every team needs a workhorse running back willing to contribute to the team any way they can.

The Cardinals got that player when they signed Taylor.

    He also..
is no longer being misused on a Mike Martz offense any longer either. People seem to have forgotten that Martz often has a poor history with the talent he has on hand. He might be abv avg, and at times the talent wins despite his playcalling, but he certainly isn't anywhere near an offensive guru as people like to assume.

    Give these guys a chance!
Do not get it! First Kurt Warner is trashing Kolb and now ESPN is trashing Taylor. Season has not even started yet so give these guys a chance. Look how many chances Lutui has gotten and he still stinks. Look how many chances Matt (Hottub) Leinhart got before they finally said enough. Kurt seems to forget that he was given many chances to get out of the grocery store business.

Warner... What does he know & Thanks for Nothing
What’s he know? He left AZ High & Dry without a QB with 2yrs still on his contract. God told him it was time! If he’s hearing voices in his head, he should see a shrink. He said we WILL be "Impressed" with Leinart & he was the “Future” of the franchise. WRONG again Kurt. What blows me away are all the Cardinals fans that still support him when he turned his back on us by leaving Abruptly like he did, especially, when Arizona gave him his last shot & the Hall of Fame opportunity. No respect for the FANS, Team & Organization. As a longtime Season Ticket Holder, thanks for nothing Kurt.

    Media & Kolb
Also Funny that I guess now that Kolb doesn’t wear a Green Helmet he Sucks... Last 2 years all the sports media talked about, (ESPN, FOX Sports & NFL Network), is Kolb is one of the Best QB’s in League, beat out McNabb & Vick for the job, he’s an Elite QB... Now he comes to Arizona and he’s 18th and so/so... The media sucks...

    Chester
First off, why are you giving credence to a blog for a football player's statistics? It's awkward. If it was hard to find Chester Taylor's stats I could see why one would list the source where the information was found. But, a "chester taylor stats" search in google took 0.22 seconds and came up with roughly 340,000 results. You don't need to cite that the sky is blue. As for whether this will help the team, he lost the backup role to Marion Barber. And he lost out on the third running back spot to Kahlil Bell. So maybe he's not that good anymore.
