What do Minnesota and Poland have in common? Other than extremely cold weather, both may be able to claim Marcin Gortat as their own in the near future.

As part of his NBA Draft blog on ESPN.com, Chad Ford dropped an interesting nugget of information on Phoenix Suns fans. The team may be interested in making a deal with the Timberwolves for the No. 2 pick in Thursday's draft.

Another realistic trade scenario involves the Suns. Phoenix is in hot pursuit of Williams and may have interest in a deal that would send Minnesota center Marcin Gortat and the No. 13 pick for the No. 2 pick and Nikola Pekovic.

For a team that has spent the better part of 43-years in search of a true center, it seems kind of odd that they would part with one that has only been with the franchise for less than a year. It seems even odder when you take into consideration that they'd be doing it for the chance to draft a player in Williams who admits he's a small forward (as if the Suns don't already have an overabundance of those).

It's nice to hear the Suns are looking to improve their draft position and make moves this offseason. Williams could very well turn into a special player in the NBA -- he may even argue one that could be LeBron-esque -- but the question has to be just how much do you give up for him?

For the Suns, a center with a large amount of upside might seem a bit steep.

    get more picks
Ask for Minnys 2nd and 20th pick in exchange and try to get a big with the #20 pick if you do let Gortat go in a trade. However, any smart person would notice that next years draft is 100 times better and we should get a pick in next years draft. This draft sucks

    Don't do it!!!
Gortat shouldn't be going anywhere unless you're getting a superstar imo. Is Williams going to be one? Maybe? I wouldn't do it.

Suns FO would be moronic to trade Gortat
Forget that the Suns have been searching for a C like Gortat for the last 40 yr.s and think of it this way. The Suns drafted Gortat and then spent 5years regretting it. They then trade the only 2 Guard(who just so happened to be their leading srorer) on their team to get him back. Gortat then proves that he is the only trade last yr. by the Suns that wasn't a bust. Then we trade him over the summer for our 7th small forward. Sound about right?

    YES
I am in favor if this deal. There was no better player in college basketball than Derrick Williams last year. He can be a PF/SF mold and plays with a high intensity motor. He can shoot, dunk, and play D. He is a less talented Lebron type player. I think Lopez can be what we expected him to be next year if he works over the summer so we won't miss Gortat that much. Plus when Derrick Williams is throwing down alley-oops from Nash and getting US Airways Center fired up, I'm sure we wont even remember Gortat's first name. GET THE DEAL DONE!

    Six small forwards and counting
Vince Carter, Dudley, Hill, Childress, Pietrus, Warrick. Now if we could just trade the other six players on our team for small forwards we could set a new trend in the NBA and return not to small ball but better yet Medium ball:>

    Anyone BUT Gortat
We've waited a long time for a starting center, Gortat is a key piece of the future. Sub Lopez for Gortat in the deal and make that trade. OR how about Flynn and #2 pick for Nash and #13 pick?

    Do the deal
Williams has the potential to be an all star in this league, gortat is a nice role player at best, he is never making an all star game. You need to gamble sometimes to be great, those who play it safe stay mediocre forever.

    DUMB MOVE
I have a man crush on Gortat due to what he does on the defensive end of the court. Its something we are familiar with as SUNS fans. He has made commitment on becoming evern better so he is destined to become a top 5 center in the league i would not trade him for a what if player!!!!
