...I can't argue with that! They got cheap in Whiz and the Vets on the team....and Warner knew they wouldn't resign anyone. The vets on the team know that and it shows. They tried a bandaid extension of Dockett, looks like it didn't work.
Warner retired for personal reasons.Period.It had nothing to do with the team or what personnel decisions were made. In fact, his retirement probably led them to not sign 58 and 21 as they were officially in a rebuilding phase when the retirement was announced anyway. Bandaid extension with DD? They locked up one of their best players and avoided another situation like they had with DD (and Boldin) last year. Commend them for doing the deal. They avoided a bad blood situation which forced the Boldin trade. They screwed that one up, but avoided repeating the mistake with DD.
What part of that adds up to a deep playoff run for ANY team?
They had to have something to hang their hat on WHILE they made this transition to a power run team and that should have been the RB's, Fitz and a VETERAN QB, like McNabb. Hell, I'd take Jeff Garcia out of the UFL at this point! They gambled and lost, but Whiz has only so much to work with. Now, if we can go 8 and 8, I'll call it a success.
I guess we will never know about Matty. I say keep the QB for 1.5 seasons as the starter and let him get his timing down, etc. He needs to get use to these machines coming at him and going away from them. These men are pure machines. This is one of those things you need to give time an take the losses with sugar. He will sink in. My concern is the timing and trust will cause players to get hurt.
I said from day one that #11 and other players would get hurt. Why? The wild Mustang will pass it an inch in the wrong place, will send them into danger, etc as he is not use to the power of this game. These players were use to one of the best QBs of all times- not saying the best, clearly one of the best. I tweated #11 telling him he was notta without Kurt. This was nothing mean, but the QB makes and breaks players.
