I understand why the cards want to rush into this to please Fitz and fans. I personally think they need to get this right or it will be a painful period. I don’t see franchise on Kolb at all. I see potential to be a decent QB. With the new money structure of the rookies, the cards would be wise to go get a vet who can groom a young franchise QB for the next few yrs, and spend the rest of that money on a very good O-line. Build this team up first. Trade some picks next year to move up and go after Luck, a true franchise QB.
Never understood the hype behind this guy. If he was a franchise type QB he would be the starting QB for the Texans right now. Not being traded twice in his career before his 8th start.
Great idea, wait until next year and draft a QB. However, where will the Cardinals be drafting? Who will be available? Who might get hurt in college this season?
And most importantly, what will Larry Fitzgerald do when the Cards DON'T get a starting QB this year? I'll tell you what he'll do – try free agency.
Aaron Rodgers played a good half a game before Green Bay handed him the keys. Tom Brady got on the field because Bledsoe got hurt, and he didn't have any stats either. Matt Cassel was the same. He didn't even have COLLEGE stats!
Don't let the Michael Vick experiment detract from the similarities between Green Bay a few years ago and Phili last year. Kolb has been groomed in an ideal situation learning behind a HOF quarterback, for a successful franchise, and in a notoriously tough division. He had the Eagles confidence on opening day. When Vick did get hurt later in the season, he more than held his own and never complained. Will he be the next Aaron Rogers? Only time will tell. Its all there for Kolb to lead the Cards to division titles and beyond.
I wonder if the underlying question is whether or not Fitz will walk if we don't get a QB that he is comfortable with this year. Are the Card fans willing to risk facing that situation? Or are we willing to look forward to a future possibly without Fitz?
