ASU to wear Jumpin’ Joe Hardwood Classic uniforms vs. Washington

Arizona State will be suiting up against Washington on Wednesday night in an alternate uniform as part of Adidas’ 2017 Hardwood Classics campaign. The old-school jerseys are officially called the “Jumpin Joe” throwbacks because they are inspired by former Sun Devil “Jumpin'” Joe Caldwell, who played for ASU from 1961-64.

Caldwell, who was the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft out of ASU, averaged 18.2 points and 11.2 rebounds for the Sun Devils and had his number retired in Wells Fargo Arena in 2010.
ASU initially released sketches of the jerseys to be worn for a 9 p.m. tip against the Huskies, but it’s clear they are styled with a maroon and gold checkered pattern along the side of the jersey and shorts. The promotion also featured Adidas’ Crazy Explosive shoes.
