The Northern Arizona University men’s basketball program announced today they have signed a forward and point guard from junior colleges.
Forward Ephraim Ekanem spent last season at Irvine Valley College in California where he averaged 8.3 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. He was an honorable mention for the all-Orange Empire Conference team, a press release said.
“Ephraim has the body in place,” said NAU head coach Mike Adras said in a press release. “He is going to be a physical presence for us inside. How well he can adjust to the Division I level will determine how much playing time he gets.”
Point guard Jywrell Wilson joined the Lumberjacks from Cuyamaca College in California. He averaged 18.6 points per game and 4.5 assists per game last season. He was named a member of the first team in the Pacific Coast Conference.
“Jywrell can play multiple guard positions for us,” said Adras. “His versatility will help him find ways onto the court. He has some experience at the college level and he is older, wiser and more mature.”
The players join a recruiting class of three high-school perimeter players who have already signed their letters of intent.
