The Sun Devils and head coach Todd Graham were searching for a new offensive coordinator after Chip Lindsey left to become the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Auburn.
Napier, 37, has past experience as an offensive coordinator at Clemson for two seasons before he joined Alabama as the wide receivers coach.
He is the latest Alabama staff member to leave the program, following offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and offensive line coach Mario Cristobal’s departures. Kiffin is now the coach at Florida Atlantic while Cristobal became the offensive coordinator for Oregon.
Napier will reunite with quarterback Blake Barnett, who transferred to Arizona State from Alabama.
Lindsey replaced Mike Norvell in December of 2015, staying for only one season in Tempe before moving on.
