Oregon’s Dillon Brooks is still flopping, and poorly

Dillon Brooks’ flopping skills are … getting better?

That’s said with much apprehension after the Oregon Ducks forward drew a foul on Arizona State big man Obinna Oleka during the Sun Devils’ 71-70 loss Thursday in Eugene, Ore. It was the second questionable meeting between Brooks and the hardwood of a basketball court in the past few weeks.

This time around, Brooks came around a screen set by Oleka, twisting himself purposely around the ASU big man and falling to the ground after hooking him. Brooks added a few barrel rolls for good measure.

Maybe it was a moving screen on Oleka. Maybe it wasn’t.

But it certainly didn’t make Brooks fall to the ground while going in a direction where the man he was guarding was not.

Whatever the case, it was Oleka’s foul, which Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley didn’t seem to appreciate, judging by his reaction.

Here’s Brooks’ previous history of acting. Against Utah on Jan. 26, Brooks attempted to draw a foul by accentuating a push-off on one Ute player. With hesitation after the play was already blown dead, Brooks flung himself the width of the lane and then some to fall to the floor.

So is he getting better at flopping?

Yes or no, he’s still got a long way to go.
