It was announced Wednesday that two-year Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles will be the new head coach of the New York Jets. Fans have now had some time to process the decision and give their feedback.
The 51-year-old Bowles helped the Cardinals to a 21-11 record during his time in Arizona and created one of the best defenses in the league.
In 2013, the Redbirds ranked first in the NFL in rush defense. They were fifth in the NFL in points allowed in 2014, despite losing multiple key players to injury.
It’s a big loss for the Cardinals, but instead of wallowing, most fans are proud of the new head coach. Seventy-eight percent say they wish Bowles well and he deserves his new position.
Eight percent of fans are a little more bitter, saying Bowles “should have stayed with a winner” instead of heading to the Jets, who posted a 4-12 record in 2014.
A small portion of fans (11 percent) are waiting until they hear who Bowles’ replacement will be to decide how they feel, while three percent of Cardinals fans claim they are indifferent to the loss because Bowles is “easily replaceable.”
