The University of Arizona may be trying to steal a legacy away from rival Arizona State after they made an offer to Jack Plummer.
When people hear the name “Plummer” in the state of Arizona, they will automatically think of Arizona State because of former Sun Devils’ quarterback Jake Plummer. If Jack Plummer, who has no relation to the ASU and former Arizona Cardinals quarterback, does indeed choose the Wildcats, then a lot could change surrounding the household name.

Jack Plummer is a junior at Gilbert High School. The pro-style quarterback is ranked 32nd at his position and eighth in Arizona by 247Sports. Boise State has also made an offer to the teenager.
Jack Plummer would have some big shoes to fill in the state if he commits to Arizona, as Jake Plummer played for ASU from 1993 to 1996. In 1996, he won Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year and ranked ninth in the NCAA with 23 passing touchdowns. The Devils went to the Rose Bowl that year, but lost 20-17 to Ohio State.
The Cardinals drafted Jake Plummer 42nd overall in 1996. He played in the NFL for the Cardinals and Broncos, throwing 161 touchdowns and 161 interceptions.
The Wildcats already have a 2018 commitment from dual-threat QB Jamarye Joiner of Cienega High School.
Arizona went 3-9 last season and missed a Bowl game for the first time since 2011.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Jack was the son of Jake Plummer
