Calais Campbell took the money. The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly gave him $30 million guaranteed through the first two years of his contract, and it’s fair the 30-year-old took the deal on what could be his last big contract of his career.
Even though he’s leaving Arizona, the outgoing Cardinals defensive end won’t forget the mark he left.
Campbell took out a full page of The Arizona Republic on Sunday to thank Cardinals fans for his nine-year NFL career in the desert.

The veteran thanked young people, fans and community members for their support, and he also promised he would continue helping with his efforts in the Valley through the Charles Richard Campbell Foundation, which he founded.
Full text of Campbell’s message to Arizona’s fan reads as follows.
“Over the past nine years, the people of the Valley of the Sun have become my family. For every fan that cheered each sack, for every community member that volunteered and supported the CRC Foundation, and for every young person that inspired me to never settle for less, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been my honor to represent you on the football field and in the community. I promise to carry on the CRC Foundation’s work here and will continue to fund Calais’ Kroc Stars, our daily after school program. This community believed in me and supported me unconditionally since day one and for that I am forever grateful.
— Calais Campbell”
